My husband & I seperated in january this year & my tax is gone mad..His earnings are 45,000 pa approx & I earn 27,500 pa approx .. My tax credit is 36 while he has 113 ..We are still being taxed as a married couple would we be better off having a seperate assesment & can we both claim for children? I pay up-wards of 120 a week in tax not including levy & PRSI..

What should I do this & loosing TRS on mortgage has left me roughly 400 monthly worse off..Any advice please ?

You both need to be taxed according to your circumstances , and this is not happening .

You only have single allowance , whereas he has the marriage allowance plus his paye allowance , plus an extra €300 allowance which I dont know what it relates to.

You have no claim for children ( home carer ) as you both have high wages .

When it is legally sorted , you can claim for youngest child ( single parent tax credit )

Thanks for that .We have different PPS nos. I"ve worked it out that I can only work 35 hrs a week then it all gone. If I ring tax office will they advise on whats best for us ? Have 3 children & I am basically a single parent.
