Electricians 2006 rate was €153 , they dont have a figure in for 2007 but should b at least same. Get onto Revenue helpline & you should get it adjusted for.

are you an employee who has to supply his own tools? if yes, you should be able to claim the amount you actually spend if it is higher. phone your tax office to claim.

yeah have to supply my own tools. do you know if this can be back dated for previous years and if so will i get a cheque from revenue for it?

If you were entitled to and did not get the flat rate allowance you can apply for Balancing Statements for a maximum of 4 back years, .i.e. 2003-2006. Assuming all other items on your taxes to be in order, Revenue would refund and tax overpaid by cheque on the Balancing Statements.

As an aside are you getting the proper wage rates. Electricians wages are quite high and are dictated by either a JLA or legislation. Rates are quite high - going on memory over €20 per hour for 1st yr qfd. Also ensure employer is paying your CIF pension, etc. Loads of other conditions concerning holidays, sick pay, overtime, expenses.
