Tax Credit Cert - Query

Hi,
I was made redundant end of Sept. Luckily I got another job straightaway - One week in between end of old job & starting the new one. I didn't claim any benifits for this week - I did get redundancy statuatory + Company contribution.
I've just recieved my new Tax Credit cert for new job & see that my SRCOP is reduced due to DSFA Unemployment benifit, same for my tax credits. This reduces my monthly SRCOP by circa €200 (copared to previous tax credit). Is this normal? I'm assuming because I got redundancy but started a job straight away that this is some type of clawback by revenue?
hope my query makes sense I'm terrible when it come to taxation.

Thanks

The revenue are not entitled to any sort of clawback of your redundancy package. It seems very odd that your certs have been amended for benefit you didn't receive. Have you ever claimed unemployment benefit?

If I were you, I'd ring your tax office and ask directly what this relates to.

It appears to me that the Tax office is working on the assumption that because you were made redundant you went on Jobseekers Benefit for the remainder of the year.As Nige says you should check with revenue.

I have come across simular situations many times particularly in the case of Illness Benefit where Benefit for the full year is factored into Tax credits & SRCOP while only receiving Benefit for a portion of the year. Always check that the amount factored in is the amount you actually received from Social Welfare
