Married couple, tax rate band question for tax year 2023.
According to revenue.ie
Married couple with one income: 49K @ 20%, balance @ 40%
Married couple with two incomes: 49K @ 20% (with increase of 31K max), balance @ 40%
Does this increase in band for second income only applies to "earned income" or does it also apply to "unearned income" say dividends?
My impression was that it applies to all incomes, but doesn't look like that is the case.
My situation is that we are married couple with one income, jointly assessed. Spouse had small UK dividend income (but no other income) and when filling in form 11 at ROS, additional dividend income is taxed at 40% by revenue calculator with no increase in band.
