Tax back on tuition fees

Hi all,

I’m looking for some advice about claiming tax back on tuition fees.
I am currently undertaking a postgrad in teaching over 18 months.

Whether right or wrong I have been told that I am eligible to claim relief on tuition fees. Something like 20% on the first €5,000.

My question is if I get two receipts one for 2008 and another for 2009.
Can I claim tax back for 2008 now? If so how do I go about doing this? Being unemployed I would prefer to receive a cheque rather than tax credits is this also possible?

Thanks g1g, I have searched on the revenue site but there doesn't appear to be a form for this. In that case do I just send off all the details outlined on the site and follow the same format next year?
