Tax allowances on medical expenses

There were tax allowances at the top rate for medical expenses, and that has been cut to the basic rate in yesterday's budget.
But I wanted to know if these allowances only apply to work done in the Republic of Ireland.
What about medical expenses incurred abroad or in the North? Do they count?
If I, for example, went abroad to get my teeth done (essential work, and not cosmetic), would I be entitled to tax relief on those costs, or only if I had the work done in the 26 counties?

I've submitted receipts in the past from treatment I received abroad and there was no problem.

To claim medical expenses for dental work you need to complete Med 2 form. Don't know if dentists abroad will/can stamp the necessary form and revenue allow it.

I've seen dentists in the North completing Med 2 forms. The dentist must put his/her PPSN on the form.

I submitted my receipts only to months ago for medical expences in the U.K has them returned and told it was only reclaimable in the state!

Did you include MED2 signed/stamped by the dentist? If so, submit it again

Once you have a completed MEd 2 form, expense in any EU country should be allowable
