Taking recordings from Sky+

Is it possible to take the recordings from the Sky+ planner and put them on a USB stick?

I'm told the only way to get them off is hooking up a DVD recorder???

As far as I know, this is the only way.

The recordings are encoded so you can't just transfer to memory stick. You'd have to play them back, through the dvd recorder, record them and then rip the dvd from their to your pc.

I'm fairly sure there is software available to record direct onto the PC, I know this is available for the american "Tivo" type machines.
