Hi,

first time poster so hope ive posted this in the right place

I am what you would call a frontier worker ie: i live in donegal and work in the North. My employers are going to put me on a reduced working week and i am wondering what would i be entitled to re: social welfare

I have a mortgage with negative equity - Ive just spilt up with my Girlfriend and have been struggling to pay my mortgage these past few months without her contribution.

we bought the house in 2007 at the peak of the boom.her name is on the mortgage and we have a joint bank acount.

do the welfare systems in the north and south share information these days? im hoping to claim jobseekers as a single person but afraid they may look at our joint account and her name on the mortgage and believe we are still together.

what are my options?
thanks for the help

p.s. this country is a dump!!

From reading the attached link it would appear that if you are fully unemployed you receive benefits from the state in which you live..that being the South of Ireland. If however you are going to be put on reduced working hours you will received benefits from the state in which you were last employed...that being the North of Ireland.
