Syria - safe to go?

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Syria in late April, but have some reservations as to whether it'll be safe, due to the situation in the middle east. I'll be in a group (organised tour), so there is that backup at least.
Whats the consensus - would I be mad to go?

Bradfield, there are lots of companies which organise these trips. I havn't booked yet, but examples are Exodus, Explore, Gap Adventures.
