can anyone recommend central 3/4 star hotel in Sudney, Oz close to sights?? Trip in Feb. Also same deal for Cairns

Last year we stayed in [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Holiday Inn Old Sydney[/FONT], the Rocks area.
It is 4.5 star or some such, it is not cheap but it is a great location.
It is in the Rocks area,loadsof restaurants, galleries, bars etc.
It is very near Circular Quay ferry point, from where you can get ferries to anywhere in Sydney waterside.
Take a night cruise around the harbourand take day ferry to [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Darling Harbour.[/FONT]
Best part is you get great view from the roof swimming pool of the Harbour bridge and the Opera house.
But be warned, if there is cruise ship in, it is moored between you and the Opera house.

Look for anywhere around Circular Quay, the rocks or Darling Harbour- all are good areas to look in. Avoid Kings cross as it can be a bit seedy.

I just came back from Oz and we stayed in Vibe Rushcutters Bay while we were in Sydney. It costs not more than €100 per room per day. Taxi to the Circular Quay costs about $12 (€8-9). The area is very upmarket and quiet (even though not too far from Kings Cross), hotel was great and good value for money. You can see the Harbout Bridge and the Opera House from just outside of the hotel.
