I took out a tracker mortgage with ulster bank 4 years ago for a house extension, switching from EBS, at ECB + 0.75%. At the time, ulster bank paid the conveyancy cost (979 euro), subject to staying with them for 5 years
I am moving house as we speak, and the guy in ulster bank's call centre that rather than redeem the mortgage and incur the 979 euro charge, I can transfer the mortgage to the new property. The new mortage would be in the region of 250-350K over 20 years.
Is this correct? I thought that mortgages are house specific and cannot be transferred to another property.
