Switching Accounts

My wife and I are looking to move our 2 separate accounts into one joint account, to keep better control of our finances. Has anyone had any experience of switching from one account to another? I have heard from friends who have used a switcher service to move account from one bank to another that some direct debits weren't transferred over and caused a lot of hassle for them. (We are staying within the same bank[AIB], but just moving accounts.) Bank themselves say there is no problem, but would just like to know if anyone has done this reliably before.

Shouldn't be any problems. Your bank will tell you this too I'm sure but it's best to pick a date in the month when you don't have any d/d's going through. Direct Debits are the one thing that can cause problems but it will get sorted. Just plan ahead & it makes it easier.
