Hi, hope someone can help out with a quick question - if my work is cut from five to three days per week, is there any point in my applying for SWA if my spouse is still in full time permanent employment? Can't find an answer on welfare.ie or get through to the local welfare office - presume this is normal!
thanks for any advice.

yes if you have been working and paying PRSI you should have enough "stamps" to make a claim. see the sticky at the top of this thread for more details. your spouses income doesn't count for job seekers benefit as it's basically an insurance claim against your PRSI contributions.

As your wife is in full-time employment, you are not entitled to SWA regardless of her income.

As dereko said, you may be entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit, based on your PRSI contributions.

SWA and Jobseeker's Benefit are two different schemes - the former is means-tested, the latter isn't.
