I am planning to sand and varnish the original t&g floorboards throughout the ground floor of my house. The floor is a suspended timber type laid on joists with a space underneath of about 3 ft. Neighbours who have done this complain of draughts coming up through the floorboards, so I would like to insulate under the floorboards before sanding and varnishing to eliminate this problem. Ideally I would like to avoid having to lift all the floorboards, as they are 60+ years old and I would like to avoid damaging them as much as possible.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to contractors / firms I could get to insulate underneath the floorboards? I have read the existing threads here and have searched google etc. but no insulation contractors discuss retro-insulating suspended floors on their websites.
I have no interest in doing it myself .
Thanks!
