Friend of mine back from a weeks holidays this morning and told that employer was suspending him without pay for 1 month! Working in horse stud and employer was not happy with way things were while he was away. Can you do this? Any advice for him?
It all depends on what procedures were followed up to the suspension. If formal disciplinary hearings took place with right to reply etc. all may be in order if the offence was committed; however if this did not occur, you friend should apply to have his case heard by a Rights Commissioner who will decide whether punishment is fair and merited.
