It works like a dream, is better than many applications you have to pay for and helps you download the appropriate codec if your file wont play.

Some of the photo resizers are well worth looking at for batch resize purposes.

Without getting into the eternal OS religious wars I also like Mint and have installed it on a few older machines where, for one reason or another, there was no Windows license or reinstallation image available. My main personal laptop is still XP though - although I'm seriously considering making the move to Mint there too.
