Sunroom Insulation

Hi,
Nearing the end of our selfbuild house and just wondering about the insulation for the sunroom roof. We have underfloor heating with a geothermal heat pump, we were thinking of using rockwool but we were told by a friend that their sunroom is very cold in winter becasue they only used rockwool! Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Put in the thickest (and lowest u-value) kingspan you can find.

What kind of glazing in your sunroom windows, by the way? (Assuming this is a room with many windows, rather than just a conservatory).

Thank you for your advice - kingspan it is! we were thinking of putting in Triso super10 but will stick with the 100mm Kingspan. Will the Kingspan need to be battoned because this plus the advice we got here turned us off the Triso?
The windows are pilkington K glass if that sounds correct?

dempsey, a few points

1. ensure you retain a 50mm air gap between the felt and the insulation
2. allow this ventilation to exhaust at the ridge of the sun room
3. for better performance perhaps consider counterbattening under the rafters and incorporating more insulation

how deep are your sun room rafters?

What U-Value would 100mm of Kingspan give?

Am I right in saying that the building regulation is 0.2W/m2K?

Thank You all for you help we have used Kingspan 100mm thick and left 50mm gap between kingspan and felt....Thanks again we'll have to wait until winter to test it now!!

If the insulation is on the slope then, in order to meet the 0.2 MINIMUM u value... 130mm of PU is required....

100mm doesnt meet regs....

Hi Dempsy

What price were you getting the Triso super10 for, as I am considering it as an option.

Your windows will provide by far the greatest heat loss in your sunroom - so make sure you get the best u-value you can.
