Sun Tunnels vs. Roof Window

I was thinking of installing a new roof window in my kitchen ceiling to let in more light and then I came across these Sun Tunnels which apparently are some what less hassle to install and just wondering has anyone any experience of them in terms of how easier are they to install than a roof window, are the effective in terms of the amount of light they throw down (In my case I expect the reflective tunnel to extend about 1.4m from roof tile to ceiling level) and are there any obvious downsides with them compared with roof windows. The pricing on them seems to be slightly less than a roof light.

I have both - in different rooms in my house.

The sun tunnel is ideal for areas that you don't intend to work much in; a bathroom or a storage room for example. The light quality isn't as good as with a roof light I've found.

If you're going to put a light source into your kitchen I'd use the one that offers the strongest light as otherwise you could have to put in 2 sun tunnels to match the quality from 1 rooflight which would be more expensive.

Instead of the standard roof window in our kitchen, we cut back the ceiling to make a whole raised section around the window - it looks like we cut a huge Toblerone out of the ceiling, with the window fitted to one side of the triangle.

It made the room much brighter and much more airy.
