... just love em. I am considering doing them myself ... has anyone had success in making them in the oven? Any advice?

I have never dried tomatoes in the oven, but I have done it with apricots and olives, however, when they are dry I put them in the freezer as I have a (possibly) irrational fear of botulism.

Hi,

my brother makes home made 'sun' dried tomatoes which are just delcious!

He chops cherry tomatoes in half, places on a roasting dish and sprinkles with olive oil and tiny slices of garlic.
Then he roasts them for about 10 hours, in an oven on the lowest temperatue - about 70degrees.
Then cover them in olive oil to store them.

They are fabulous. I have to say I tried the above, and they came out looking like squashed grilled tomatoes, so dont konw what I did wrong - suspect I used too much oil.

Cheers.

Thanks for the replies ... I will give it a go at the weekend ... plan on doing a big batch ... economy of having the oven on for 10 hours.
