Summons after a year - traffic offence?

Hi,

I recieved a summons at the weekend for a traffic offence which happened last May 2007. I thought theres a time limit of 6 months for a summons to be sent out? Can anyone share any light?
 
It depends.

What's the summons for, and what section of what act is it quoting?
 
Don't look at the date the summons was printed but look at the date the complaint was made by the garda.
