Looking for advice on holiday to Europe next summer. Have visited usual contries France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Greece.

Want to fly to somewhere like Germany and drive to surrounding countries. Will consider other starting points - will have 3 weeks.
Mainly want value for money, sunshine (not too hot) and good food. Not into hiking or anything too energetic.

Any other suggestions for start point and interesting countries /good route to take??

Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. Hop on board a ferry boat and visit Austria and Switzerland. Travel around the lake by bus or train. Did it last year. Great holiday.

Did Motorhome trip around Southern Germany and Bavaria last year, Munich, Lindau, Lake Constance and NewSchwenstein were fantastic. Good value to be had. Lake Constsance definetly would be a good option and a ferry across to Austria & Switzerland. Switzerland can be a bit expensive.

Lindau in Germany to Bregenz in Austria cost us €8 each way as a foot passenger on the ferry. Meersburg to Konstanz cost us about €11 each way.

Take an apartment in somewhere central like Budapest, direct flight from Dublin. Enjoy the sights of the city and the open air baths etc. Then use the train system to make trips to anywhere that takes you fancy for a day or two, coming back to your base each time. Take a trip on the Danube to Vienna on the overnight cruise boat and watch the world pass by your window. Come back relaxed and de-stressed!

Stapeler, the Germany Motorhome trip sounds. We would be very interested in a trip like that this June and hope to start trip somewhere in Germany and travel to Switzerland/Austria. Would you have any tips/suggestions on motorhome rental in Europe..where to start looking..what to look out for..whats inc..campsites etc

Thanks for reply, Poland sounds like a good option for part of the trip, have visited Krakow before but don't know anything about the rest of Poland ..... what other areas are interesting to visit ?? Any input appreciated ??

Another nice route
Fly into Venice
Train to Trieste
Boat over to Piran in Slovenia
Make way to Ljubljana and Lake Bled
Then on to Salzburg / Vienna
Fly out of either of these to Dublin

If you are thinking of Poland, take in Poznan - lovely old town with lots of street cafes - after that head south - magnificent mountain scenery.
