Suggestions for paint colour for black & white kitchen?

Black floor tiles and worktop and white units.

We would like a bright cheerful colour (or colours) but are worried that e.g. yellow (or shades of it - be it 'sunseed', 'honey' or whatever) would make the white look off colour or sickly.

On the other hand terracotta/paprika or something might be too strong.

Any ideas? Or better still, specific brands/shade of paint?
 
A multicoloured mosaic tile would look good. Something with red/ white /blue. B & Q do some nice metallic type ones.
Plain white paint on the walls would go well with the tiles.

we have something vaguely similar (not fully black and white) and used Dulux [broken link removed] on back wall (small wall). I think it looks great, obviously, but i dont think i'd do the whole kitchen it in

Mosaic, maybe - but only for the first 250mm or so above the worktop and on 2 walls only - would still need paint for the rest of the surfaces.

I like that teal but I think it's too cold for our kitchen - ours is a physically cold house anyway.
 
Yes it was just above the worktops that I meant for the mosiac tiles and white paint else where.
 
colortrend do a fab cerise colour,cant remember the code number..would second the tile suggestion,maybe with a splash of cerise on them..
 
I've seen a kitchen where instead of a tiled backsplash the black countertop was continued up the wall about 10cm, and the wall was painted a rich deep red. It looked fantastic.

You might also consider a deep rich "art deco" pink (something like no. 61 in [broken link removed] image), which would work very well with the black and white.

If you do go for a strong colour you only need to use it on one or two of your walls, you can paint the rest of the walls white and use pictures to add colour to those walls. (I have a black and white kitchen too, and I have white subway tiles as a splashback and all the walls are white, but I have bright coloured pictures on the wall - including a large predominantly aqua blue map of the world - to stop it being too monochrome)
 
I had a similar kitchen in my last house and painted it a moroccon red, which was really nice, although if kitchen is small I wouldn't paint the whole kitchen red, as it can darken it, if it is not a good size bright kitchen. It sold the house for me in the end, as the girl who bought it loved the kitchen.
