Subway tiles as backsplash with busy granite

Hi

We've chose a granite with "movement" in the design - its kind of a goldish color with lost of specks in it. My dilemma is now the backsplash  We picked out Cream 4 x 6 tile. We were consideriing doing the subway effect (brick design) but I'm concerned about it looking too busy with the granite top. I want the granite to take center stage in the kitchen. Need some opinions. Has anyone done this? Do you think it would look too busy? Thanks for any advice/opinions.

Personally I think they might detract from the beauty of your granite. I put in granite upstands and a glass spalshback behind the cooker. I am in my house now 10 years and have repainted the kitchen three times and this gives it a fresh new look without having to replace tiles.

I had to make a decision last week so went with the subway tile and surprisingly it looks really well - am very happy :D
