Sub Woofer - LCD Interference

Any Techies able to answer this?

I recently bought an LCD TV to go with my home cinema kit, but every now and again the TV just goes all snowy and all the remote buttons lock, the only remedy is to plug out the TV and plug it back in again, then it works fine.

I read somewhere that this is from magnetic interference from the sub-woofer (even though it is magnetically shielded) - is this likely to be the case? or should I be looking to returnt the TV to the retailer? is it doing any long term damage to the TV?

In order to put as much distance between the sub-woofer and the TV I have put the sub-woofer on its side on the floor, is this wise or could it damage the SW?

Thanks

The only thing I know about subwoofers is that they dont need to be positioned for the best results, so move it away from the TV , behind a chair somewhere, and it should avoid any interference.
