The case in the news was in relation to a mature student who qualified for a benefit called 'back to eductaion allowance' In brief gives the person a payment similar to what they would have been getting on the dole while attending college. When the person taking the case qualified for this it was expected to be paid during the summer months but they changed the rules so that it wasn't paid during the holidays and he lost out. Can technically apply for unemployment assistance during the holidays but arguable not really fulfilling the criteria for seeking and being available for work if going back to college in 2/3 months.
