Hello.

I am an artist moving to New York to study an MFA.

I need to rent over there for up to two years at least during the college term.

Has anybody any ideas about finding a good affordable place?

Any inventive ideas would be appreciated. Housesitting, is there such a thing? Art friendly landlords? Are there any patrons of the art on this forum who have a place in New York? Anybody bought a place in New York recently, apartments are currently cheap, the dollar is cheap. I can do it up (minor building and decoration) and pay rent? As i said, inventive ideas appreciated.

Have a look at craigslist.org I found it really helpful when looking for a job/ accomodation etc in NY last summer. Other than that I can't be of much help but it sounds great and you are really lucky
