Hey all,

Does anyone know the best rate offered by an Irish Bank for 2000-5000 student loan. Someone told me that AIB give interest free loans to students, is this true? Couldn't find out on the website.

Thanks for your help.

In general, student loans are only offered on an interest free basis where a lump sum is expected in he near future, i.e. a tax refund or a grant cheque.

www.itsyourmoney.ie - there is a student current account cost survey that says if banks give student loans. I think most banks will lend students money these days but you will usually need a guarantor.

BOI give interest free loan/overdraft for value of grant if you've been approved.
Other than that any student loan I've got with them has been 6-7%, lower than any personal loan but expensive.
You can delay payment until summer when you finish college etc.
