Student Claiming During Summer?

Hi,
I'm currently finishing year 1 of a 4 year college course. I lost my part time job back in September in a pub due to the recession. I have been working since I'm 14 and I'm now 19. I should have a good number of stamps built up.

My question is, if I can't find employment during the summer months, Would I be eligible to claim unemployment benefit for the three months over summer even though I am a registered student?

I am not receiving any grant as my parents income was just over the limit for me to receive one.

Any help at all with this matter would be most greatly appreciated

You can claim JB if you've got the qualifying stamps. You can't claim JA.

What is the differance between jobseekers benefit and jobseekers allowance?

Jobseeker's Benefit is based on your PRSI contributions.
Jobseeker's Allowance is means-tested.
