That certainly part of it. And then you had those who were looking at Dublin and were in the 400k market for 2bed or very small 3 bed suddenly realising they could get a 1600 sq ft in Kildare or Wicklow with plenty of room for a home office, less stress and hopefully only have to face traffic 2/3 times a week.I read an article to the effect there's a large amount of pandemic savings cash built up and that needs to be burnt off so to speak.
People didn't go on holidays, socialise, probably kept same car etc etc
I read the above statement possibly a little different than most,It wouldn’t surprise me if Fianna Fáil/Fine Gael put in place a huge amount of funding for house building to try to fend off Sinn Fein in the next election; however I think the following should be taken into account:
You’re right. Building houses for everyone is a left-leaning policy, but be in no doubt that the next election will be decided on the housing issue. SF is the most popular party in Ireland and will most likely form a new government after the next election. I’m not a fan as I have no interest in paying mega taxes, but they are incredibly effective at garnering the young vote as they keep promising to fix housing (which of course they won’t).I read the above statement possibly a little different than most,
FF/FG government policy is to the left of SF,
In other words, when you vote no1 FF or FG you are voting No 1 for People before Profit,
In other words, in the Dublin bay, south election FF and FG got 31% between them,
People before Profit got 2.7%
If you voted NO 1 James Geoghegan and NO2 Dierdre Conroy the policies you get from FF/FG Belong to Brigid Purcell who got 2.7% or 708 votes in total,
That’s interesting. Which parties do you think they have switched to?again as a person who would have supported FG/FF up until I realized when voting FG/FF the right-wing in both parties pi$$ed on the people earning around 66K in the last crash,
it was the people on 66K or higher who lost their jobs who finished up getting less than people who never worked a day in their lives in the last crash, I say this a someone who worked in an Industry which always sees an upswing in a recession, we employed some who lost their jobs back then,
The 66 billion you talk about can be laid at the door of both FG/FF or should we now say FG and FG, since FF is Gone or acting as a mudguard for FG,
I think when it comes to housing FG/FG supporters are in a no-win situation,
even if we do get cheaper housing the cost to FG supporters will be higher when you factor in who will finish up paying for it,
for the most part, former FG/ supporters do not switch to SF, even though I know a few who did,That’s interesting. Which parties do you think they have switched to?
You could be right. Kelly did very well in recent interviews I think.for the most part, former FG/ supporters do not switch to SF, even though I know a few who did,
Speaking for myself not SF
I think alan kelly has positioned the labor party for a take over of FF, There was more than Ivana at play in Dublin south,
I would say there were quite a few FF/FG people who always vote in every election looking for a new home for their vote,
The mega taxes and wealth taxes and robbing pension pots I expect will be the results of FG/FF, not SF,You’re right. most forget Kelly was the minister for the environment when the Government tried to bring in water rates he was the last to give in,You could be right. Kelly did very well in recent interviews I think.
