Stove cracked - no warranty

We bought a boru 20kw stove 21/2 years ago. Stupidly we forgot to send off the warranty card.
I noticed a medium sized crack on the body of the stove where the door closes. The stove has been well looked after And we only burn the fuel they advise.

I contacted boru about it and they asked me to forward a picture which I did.
I got a letter today basically saying because they don't have our warranty on file its not their problem.

Do I have any rights?

You probably do. A stove that cracks in less than 3 years when used correctly and would not meet the criterion of being "... as fit for the purpose or purposes for which goods of that kind are commonly bought and as durable as it is reasonable to expect ...".

Iv just got my second new stove and never got a warranty card. I know my first stove Mulberry had a two year warranty and I was to just go back to the shop. Must check the story with my new stove.

Have you made contact with the shop?.

I would keep going with the whole thing.

You do indeed as enshrined in the the [broken link removed] and lack of a warranty registration card doesn't effect them one whit.

Where goods are defective or break down after a sort period (IMO 2.5 years for a stove is a short period) your recourse is against the person who sold you the stove, the hardware shop or installer and not necessarily the manufacturer, unless they sold directly to you.

If you register for a manufacturer's warranty, this warranty operate in addition to your legal consumer rights; not rgfistering your warranty in no way diminishes your legal rights as a consumer in Ireland.

You will need :

a) proof of purchase, a receipt is good, but a bank statement, cheque-stub or credit card slip or statement is just as good

b) some independent verification that the stove is in fact broken and not just cosmetically damaged.

And I bet on the manufacturers literature there is paragraph on the longevity of the stoves.

If not, contact them as a prospective customer and ask.
