Hi
I have a plant Pink Cabbage Palm (Cordyline) like at http://www.shrubsdirect.com/shop/Cordyline-Electric-Pink.html

Its not planted in the ground but in a pot sitting on the patio. Its thrived well over the year

What is best way to store this over the winter. Should i put it in the garden shed or should i leave it in shaded spot in the garden

Either place i put it - should i cover it with a plastic bag to protect from frost

Thoughts?

Thanks

Wouldn't put it in a shed... Not many plants grow in sheds!
Wouldn't put it in shaded spot either . they like sunny spots...
Definitely don't cover with a plastic bag to protect from frost!
Maybe keep it in a sunny spot, sheltered from wind, if possible. If we get prolonged snow like last year you could loosly tie up the leaves and cover with fleece, straw or newspaper to protect from frost.

We had a Cordyline for years and it was quite tall but unfortunately the prolonged period of frost and snow last winter killed it as it did many others I have seen around the city. We had no option but to remove it but I have noticed new spears growing from the bast that was left in the ground. It may not be such a harsh winter this year but if it gets frosty I suggest you keep it in a warm spot and wrap it in garden fleece to protect it from the frost. Check it from time to time to make sure frost hasn't got into the centre of the leaves.

Place mulch around it, and use a fleece to protect the head as well as the base in freezing weather.
