I purchased a multimedia hard disk from last December. The same item is still currently on sale . The ad clearly states "2 year warranty".
Last week the power supply cable which came with the disk failed. This is a cable with a small brick at the end and a 4-pin head for connecting to the disk. I believe the hard disk itself is still okay, but I don't know this for certain until the power supply starts working again.
When I returned to the Pixmania website seeking to make a return I was directed to the manufacturer's website, a French company named [broken link removed]. Storex are only contactable via email. Storex have informed me that the "Spare parts sent by STOREX are not guaranteed". They want me to send them a cheque for 25 euros in return for a new power supply.
I'm a bit annoyed about this but I don't seem to have any other option but to pay up. So much for my "2 year warranty" - it turns out that there are conditions attached which I was not informed of in advance.
What is also annoying is that I cannot speak to anyone at Pixmania or Storex about this as I don't have a phone number - all I've got is an email address for Storex.
Any comments?
