stone facing timber frame house

a question on behalf of a friend,on a timber framed house is it possible to use stone as the outer leaf??,i know you can have timber frame ,then cavity, then block and then stone,but is it possible to have timber frame,cavity,and then stone??

May depend on the stone / finish but would it be waterproof enough ? Again it may depend on the stone being used but if its going higher that one story would the structure be safe / correct ?
