when buying and selling shares will the stock broker take his percentage at the buy and the sell end of things.

how is stamp duty calculated?

How is any capital gins tax paid......does the stock broker take it off at the point of sale ie transferring the money into your accoung less any cgt/stamp duty/commission.

Yes.

how is stamp duty calculated?
If you buy Irish stocks it's 1%, .5% for UK stocks and 0% for US stocks. SD is payable on the purchase only and not on the sale.

Broker is not responsible for your cgt. That's payable on a self assessment basis.
