I saw an item I liked today, priced in sterling 45 and in euro 69

!! ??

This seems to be vry common practice, £45 = 50 euro MAX

my question is, if prices on the item show different currencies, can you demand to pay in one of the currencies displayed on the tag?

would like to go to the check-out and hand them 45 sterling, after all, if it's displayed in sterling .... its like when you buy something and they scan it and it's more, they legally have to sell it to you at the displayed price.

They don't legally have to do anything.

Management have the right to refuse admission and all that.

Some places might honour an incorrect price for customer service but I think by law, a price in a shop is only legally referred to as an "invitation to treat".

The first part has been done to death....search the threads.

Second part - no, the shops have no obligation to accept foreign currency

Lastly - the shop is not obligied to sell at the display price....that is an invitation to treat. Even if they have a sign about incorrect prices & refunds, you normally have to complete the transaction and then seek the refund. But those offers are at the shops discretion & have no legal obligation to offer them.
