Sterling bank draft

Hi

I got a 7,000 sterling bank draft last week to buy a car in northern ireland but the deal feel through. I have now found another car that I would like to buy. I went into the bank today to get the draft changed but was told that I would have to lodge it into my account and get a new one issued. The problem is that I will lose €400 due to a change in exchange rate and the fact that they buy back sterling at a different rate. Can anyone advise of a way around this? Can they not just issue a new draft in another name?

It appears you've answered your own question.

Sug1,
I have come across this before. You are entitled to get your sterling draft either cashed out in sterling or redirected to a uk bank account. Whether your bank will do this or not will depend on whether the 'can i speak to the manager' approach goes.

I have come across this done before.

Banks refusing to do this for you are taking the mick
