Steps involved/how to order prescription glasses online?

Hi all,

I'm hoping to order my next pair of glasses and sunglasses (both prescription) online.

I intend getting my eyetest done locally and asking for a printout of my prescription.

Can anyone recommend a good site to go to for ordering? What are the pros and cons of ordering online? My hope is that I can get both pairs cheaper online, or alternatively spend the same money as I would here but maybe splash out and get a designer pair instead of just regular specsavers pair.

Is it always best to try & find a style that you like in a local shop, try it on and then try & find that exact model online?

Thanks in advance.

theyve been recommended on here before and have got good reviews.

Downside? no customer service for fitting. several years ago I approached my local optician and asked would he order the lens and fit to a frame that I found online. he went a step further and got the frames himself and sold to me at same cost.

high street stores didnt want to know.

prices still didnt touch the site above though.

I've done this a few times with great results. www.39dollarglasses.com this site lets you send in your frames so that you are sure of what you are getting. I"ve used them a few times, once they were slow, but always quality was great. They have an option of a very slim lens, but I used the 1.67 option and it was really fine. Well worth getting the non reflecting coating too.

is a good blog site, and tells you how to measure the PD distance for your eyes. If you are getting your eyes tested for an up to date prescription, tell your optician you need this as well on your prerscription. There are also discount coupons for most of the main sites. Good luck
