steering problem

Hi, There is a crunching metallic noise when the steering of my wife's Fiat Punto is almost fully locked to the right. The dealer says they cant find anything or hear any noise. I dont believe this . Also this is the second time for the same problem. Could anyone throw any light before we call thur. for the car.

Go to a different garage if they don't know what they are doing.

I had something similar on my audi. I got the wife to get in and replicate it while I looked in the engine bay to find where sound was coming from.

Turned out that one of the belts was hopping at full lock.

It turned out to be an alternator pulley. Gave a metallic, screeching noise as you had kinda mentioned

Maybe it's something similar to this.

Best having as much investigation as you can done before you go in. That way you can rule out silly stuff they might tell you.

Hi, The car is under warrantly as it is an 06 bought in January. There is no screeching noise , only a metal to metal crunch .
