anybody got any thoughts on Steeplechase Ratoath ?A friend of mine is interested in buying there and there seemed to be a great buzz about them when they relaunched back in september and a good number apparently "sold" but there doesn't seem to be any new people moved in or making moves to move in. If they we're sale agreed in september surely by now there would be some activity over there? this is a bit uneasy for him as no one wants to live in an empty estate, anybody else in a similar position, and how do you make a decision on buying a house in the current climate it's a mindfield!!!

Cuppatea, I was one of those that put down a deposit last September , i.e went 'sold'.

I suspect the builder will need to cut the prices significantly over the next six months to shift the remaining houses. I don't want to be the fool that pays full asking price now and see the price cut by 50 or 60 thousand later in the year.

In short I would advise your friend to seriously consider pulling out and awaiting developments over the spring/summer

Thanks for the post! I'm looking at the same estate, just spoke with the EA, apparently 3 detached four bedroom / 1 four bed townhouse left and the price is negotiable. Let me know how you get on!

Steeplechase is a lovely estate. If you walk further around it youll see there is only really one patch where there are vacant houses. The houses are all finished and so are the surrounding areas so to label it a ghost estate I think is a bit much. Neighbours are lovely and the estate is kept really well by the management company. Personally my intention is to upgrade within the estate.

On another note I havent seen anyone move into the recently 'sold' homes so maybe everyone is hesitant.

Most are half the price they were in 2007/2008 but nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to house prices they might just fall again. It would be a lot overall if they did.

Hope this helps.
