I have a combination steam oven, and it cost €1.5k. It has been a great investment as it roasts also. It leaves the food very moist and much quicker to cook. It basically cooks the meat for the first while with high humidity and fisishes it with less humidity so its crispy on the outside. Because of the steam there is less cleaning of the oven just wipe with damp cloth
being in the business I would also recommend the combi steam oven as opposed to the regular steam oven. As stated earlier 1.5k will get you a good one.
it should also perform most of the functions you need from a microwave and can also be used for baking, roasting etc.
when roasting it helps retain juices in meats, avoids shrinkage and yet will give you the crisp finish on the outside you expect from a normal oven
i can only give advice on brands i am familiar with:
Neff & Siemens have combisteam ovens at approx 1500 (i am more familiar with Neff and no prob recommending that one). When pricing, make sure you are being quoted for Combi steam and in colour you want as price will vary
**recommendation - if buying Neff, purchase from someone who holds regular Neff demos instore - that way you can see the appliance being used and you can ask the Neff Demo chef any questions you may have** ring the Neff agents in Dublin to find out who near you holds regular demos - neff agents are KAL 01 4136400
