Stay at home mum going back to work

My better half is looking at her options to get back to work after 10 years at home with the kids. We really need some extra income at the moment. Her IT skills aren't great (though she is able to find her way around marksandspencers.com) and her other work skills would be fairly dated.

She isn't currently registered on the dole, and I presume we wouldn't qualify for any means-tested payments.

Have you any good suggestions for where to start looking for training options? Are FÁS any good in these situations? Or the local VEC? Will she end up having to pay for training? Or will she get a training allowance?

I think it is very good for mind and body to return to education even if the dream job does not turn up immediately.
If you are within easy reach of Fas, VTOS or your local community college get down there quickly and check out what's on offer immediately as the places are being snapped up.
Can highly recommend the return to brush up the skills. Gets you back the confidence. Our course included a bit of makeover and we were recommended to attend classes as we would dress going to work.

Best of luck
