Statutory Vs Voluntary Hospitals in Ireland

No real difference in things they do, and all of them now come under the remit of the HSE, but statutory hospitals are public hospitals which are directly managed, while voluntary hospitals are indirectly managed and have their own hospital boards. The big 5 Dublin hospitals are all voluntary - Mater, SJH, Beaumont, Vincents and Tallaght. These hospitals are also known as the Dublin Academic Teaching Hospitals.
