statute of limitations

I recd a parking summons to appear in court on 28 June. I recd the summons yesterday 1/6/2011 , for an offence that was committed in July 2009. Can this still proceed.

is it from the garda or traffic warden? . As far as i can determine from [broken link removed]the garda have 6 months to apply to court for summons but the court can be at any time after that.I know yours is a parking ticket and the link is drunk driving but as far as i know both are Road Traffic Act. I may be wrong here

Thanks Jane - the summons was applied for by the council on 3/12/2009 for an offence committed on the 28/09/2009 and Ive to appear on 28/6/2011.....lovely im sure!!
