I recently submitted backdated returns on Form 12 going back as far as 2003. My Purpose in doing this was to regularise my situation with regard to rental income. So I submitted my Form 12 for 2003 detailing my rental income and also completing all other sections on the form including claims etc.
I have received from the revenue correspondance saying that they can no longer process my "claim" as its outside the 4 year time limit and as such is statute barred.
This makes sense to me from a "claim" perspective - ie I cannot receive any money due to me past the 4 year time limit; however as I was declaring rental income (note: there was actually no liability due in the end) - what is my position for 2003 on the rental income ?
As I will not receive a balancing statement - can I assume that I am okay with revenue on this ?
