Ive got a really silly question here!

Im trying to decide how much I can afford to contribute to my PRSA and was wondering if I have a PRSA pension will this be my sole source of income at 65 or will I be entitled to the state pension too?

And to exhaust another topic-im paying the usual 5+1% charges and was wondering can anybody recommend a better deal.
Ive conacted a few brokers and companies and will post details of their offers when they get back to me.

Thanks!!

The qualification criteria for the various state pensions are clearly explained on the SW website.

You can get 0%/1% PRSAs for a once off arrangement fee of a few hundred €. See here for example:

The cheapest PRSA?

You may be able to get similar or better deals on charges on RACs/Retirement Annuity Contracts aka personal pension plans.

1% AMC and that's it.

Eagle Star Individual PRSA, AVC PRSA, Personal Pension and Company Pension.

Funds available are those that are relevant to each product i.e. the choice would be broader on the Personal & Company Pension Plans.

Assuming that the funds on offer suit the individual's needs it certainly looks like the current winner in terms of charges!

Just to clarify on the Personal & Executive Pensions.

If someone looks to invest in a fund that is outside the Matrix range of Funds i.e External Fund Managers the AMC would be higher.

Thanks folks....
Liam Ferguson just got back to me with 3.5%/1% offer.....will post any other replies i get.
Had a look at the prsa.ie site. Have to ask...are there any catches? it seems like a great deal to go from my AIB 5%/1% package to 0%/1% AND getting to help orphaned children....or am I just too cynical!!

There is no catch.

You only get to help the abandonded kids if you make a donation, and that is entirely up to you.

Thanks F Kruger

Im only after a standard pension...as I dont understand any other type...so I think that Ill go with prsa.ie and make a donation. its a far cry from 5%/1%.

Cheers

I think LABrokers (www.labrokers.ie) offer the 0/1% through several companies... Eaglestar/Irish Life/Hibernian

With no arrangement fee (they get commission from the pension company)
"There is NO charge to the client for this execution only service."

I use them for my Life Insurance - excellent service

Cheers, tried their site but prsa link is down, so I emailed them for details. It seems like a good deal.
cheers

I e-mailed LA via their website. Got the Eagle Star brochure and Standard PRSA application, together with a freepost envelope to send to Eagle Star. 0%/1%, I'm very impressed!
