starview NTL box

Can anyone tell me if they have ever bought a blank digital receiver box and managed to transfer software onto the box. I bought one of these pseudo NTL boxs recently which provides you with all the required channels but i was wondering if i can just copy the file on the box and trasfer them to another box thus creating two???
