Stanley stove instead of gas fire insert !

Hey all,

i have a gas fire insert in the sitting room at the moment, but it does not heat the room that much, more like a fire effect !

Just wondering does anyone know, if it's just a matter of removing the gas fire insert and getting the gas fitting removed from the fire place and capping the gas pipe around the side of the chimney breast, and then put one of the stanley stoves in ?

My Aunt has one and have heard others say the heat out of them is away better even than some ordinary fires. And that they are very efficient and don't use alot of coal etc

Yes, but you could also get a much more efficient gas fire eg http://www.stovax.com/products.htm?cid=2&sid=3, the basic gas inserts are only 25% efficient.

kinda gone off gas. the stanley stoves are supposed to be way more effecient, so may go for the solid fuel...
