Hi,
My partner and I have just completed the purchase of a house in Tipperary. The house was built and on the market as a NEW House, no one ever lived in it nor had it ever been furnished / made liveable. During the solicitor interactions it was stated that as this house was previously owned (not sure on this) we would have to pay stamp duty €22k. We did not want to loose the house and as the solicitors told us this was correct we went ahead.
Was this right ?. Even though the house was never occupied / lived in etc,. was it right to have to pay the Stamp Duty ?.
Is there an appeals process ?
