Stamp duty paid by FTB - can I claim it back?

I'm just wondering if anyone has advice for those of us who paid stamp duty shortly before the government abolished it for all First Time Buyers? I went sale agreed on a property last June, closed in October, and paid close to €12,000 in stamp duty in November. As the government abolished stamp duty for all FTBs just six months later, do I have any chance of claiming even a portion of it back?

I'm guessing you're right but I had heard when the €317,500 limit was introduced, that some people who had just paid out could claim some of it back. It seemed to have depended on how good your solicitor was
