I purchased an apartment last year as a residental property for a first time buyer. As circumstance would have it I changed job, which involved me moving firstly overseas for 6 months and then down the country, where I am currently renting property myself now. The apartment is currently been rented out.
My question now is will I be forced to pay stamp duty on the apartment?

Some of the info in this thread may help answer your query.

If you search for 'stamp duty clawback' you will find plenty of recent discussion.

Short answer is 'yes' you will have to pay stamp duty, but there may be leeway given to those who are on secondment.
